Bing Business Portal Affects Search Rankings
Business owners take notice: Bing has released the Bing Business Portal, and your business should get listed. This portal lets local businesses claim, verify and modify business listings. It is competing with Google Places, and offers some things Google doesn't (like a free mobile version listing).
Having a listing can actually improve your overall search rankings as well. “The details you provide can help modify how your business appears in the Bing algorithmic search results" according to Bing's own FAQ pages,
We love google, but can't forget about Bing. According to a report from market research firm comScore, as of March 2011, Google was, of course, in the lead, taking 65.7% of the US search market share. Yahoo (their search results are powered by Bing), has 15.7% and Bing gained some market - getting 13.9% of the search market.
The Bing Business Portal is in beta right now, and free for businesses. With free services such as Bing Business Portal, Google Places, or Facebook Pages - it makes sense for smaller businesses to get listed on all of them.
