What is a good domain name?

A domain name is the address of your website (ex. www.blacksheepwebdesign.com). Just like you can't have an office without an address, you can't have a website without a domain name.

Try to make a domain name easy to remember. If it is too long or too difficult to spell, then it becomes a barrier to your site. Using your company's name is a great choice, but if the domain name is already taken, consider a phrase or tagline that communicates who you are or what you offer (ex. www.albanycmswebsites.com).

Originally, the three letter extension indicated whether the domain name was used for commercial (.com), network (.net), or nonprofit (.org) purposes, but those distinctions no longer apply. You can use .com or any of the other many extensions for domain names.
